Plan video wall power and cooling with practical guidance on define the equipment boundary and provide safe service access. NexPro-Link project guide.
Section 01
Define the Equipment Boundary
Include the display, processing, decoders, control equipment and any dedicated workstations required by the scope. Separate room cooling and general services. A screen-only wattage omits equipment necessary to produce and manage the displayed image.
Turn the answer into a working record using Equipment, Operating load, Maximum rating, Supply owner.
| Decision area | Buyer question | Required output |
|---|---|---|
| Define the Equipment Boundary | What loads belong to a display-wall package? | Include the display, processing, decoders, control equipment and any dedicated workstations required by the scope. |
| Separate Average and Maximum Power | Which display power figure should be used? | Use the figure appropriate to the decision: operating scenarios help energy planning, while electrical and protective design needs the applicable equipment ratings and installation requirements. |
| Translate Electrical Load into Heat | Can display electrical power inform room cooling? | Much of the equipment's consumed energy becomes heat in the room, but cooling design must include the complete room and operating conditions. |

Section 02
Separate Average and Maximum Power
Use the figure appropriate to the decision: operating scenarios help energy planning, while electrical and protective design needs the applicable equipment ratings and installation requirements. Average watts per square metre should not silently replace maximum or nameplate conditions for circuit planning.
Use Area, Average assumption, Rated condition, Design purpose to compare options on the same basis. Keep product capability, project assumption and operating responsibility in separate columns.
Section 03
Translate Electrical Load into Heat
Much of the equipment's consumed energy becomes heat in the room, but cooling design must include the complete room and operating conditions. Use device data and the mechanical engineer's calculation. A simple screen-only estimate does not account for all equipment, occupancy or environmental loads.
The project output should make Heat source, Location, Operating condition, Cooling responsibility traceable from input to acceptance.
- Confirm the answer to: Can display electrical power inform room cooling?
- Record the project fields: Heat source / Location / Operating condition / Cooling responsibility.
- Keep product capability, project assumptions and site responsibility in separate records.

Section 04
Provide Safe Service Access
The chosen display construction determines where modules and supporting equipment can be serviced. Reserve the required access and removal routes before fixing wall depth or decorative finishes. A visually seamless installation can become impractical when critical components cannot be reached or replaced.
Record Component, Service side, Clearance, Removal route before selecting a product family. That makes later substitutions possible without silently changing the operational requirement.
Section 05
Choose What Remains on UPS
That depends on the required outage workflow and power budget. Some sites prioritize recording and one essential operator display instead of the full wall. Define the minimum useful monitoring service, then size the protected load and runtime accordingly.
Review Service level, Powered displays, Processing, Load, Runtime with the party that will operate or maintain the system.

Section 06
Coordinate the Final Room Interfaces
Provide the selected equipment arrangement, power conditions, heat information, service access and intended backup scope. Identify responsibility for circuits, protection, cooling and structural support. Equipment supply information should support, not replace, the responsible professionals' room design.
Use Interface, Supplier input, Site designer, Installation owner as the handoff between design and procurement.

These sources support the general planning principles. Always use the selected product's current datasheet and applicable project standards for final design.
