Section 01

Define Remote Tasks and Users

State who needs live view, playback, export or administration, from which locations and devices. These tasks have different bandwidth and permission needs. Avoid granting full configuration rights merely because a user needs to check one camera remotely.

Turn the answer into a working record using User, Location, Device, Required action, Permission.

Section 02

Choose the Access Architecture

No access label establishes security by itself. Review authentication, update support, service dependency and exposure for the chosen arrangement. Directly exposing camera services introduces different risks from controlled remote access. Use the organization's approved access architecture rather than treating convenience as sufficient justification.

Use Access method, Exposure, Authentication, Service dependency to compare options on the same basis. Keep product capability, project assumption and operating responsibility in separate columns.

Section 03

Calculate Site Upload Demand

Add the streams actually transmitted from the site for the expected concurrent users and layouts. Consider whether a platform redistributes one stream or each client creates another session. Use substreams where appropriate, and leave capacity for recording-related services and other agreed network traffic.

The project output should make Layout, Stream Mbps, Independent sessions, Upload demand traceable from input to acceptance.

  • Confirm the answer to: How much upload bandwidth does remote viewing need?
  • Record the project fields: Layout / Stream Mbps / Independent sessions / Upload demand.
  • Keep product capability, project assumptions and site responsibility in separate records.

Section 04

Manage Accounts and Mobile Devices

Separate accounts make permissions and activity easier to manage. Define account recovery, removal and temporary access, and use stronger authentication where the platform supports it. Shared credentials make it harder to identify actions or revoke one person's access without disrupting everyone.

Record Account, Role, Device policy, Expiry, Revocation before selecting a product family. That makes later substitutions possible without silently changing the operational requirement.

Section 05

Plan for Internet and Service Outages

It should not necessarily do so when recording, timekeeping and essential camera connectivity are local, but the actual architecture determines the result. Test what remains available when external connectivity or a hosted access service fails. Remote convenience should not create an unnoticed dependency for local evidence capture.

Review Failure, Local recording, Remote view, Recovery action with the party that will operate or maintain the system.

Section 06

Handover the Access Arrangement

Record authorized roles, the approved access method, support ownership and recovery procedures in controlled documents. Provide user instructions without embedding passwords in public guides. Confirm that the client can manage access changes after delivery instead of depending indefinitely on an installer's personal account.

Use Access owner, User guide, Recovery channel, Support scope as the handoff between design and procurement.
