Plan bank branch CCTV design with practical guidance on define each banking video task and calculate retention and supported storage. NexPro-Link project guide.
Section 01
Define Each Banking Video Task
Define the authorized operational purpose for teller areas, controlled entrances and ATM context. Those views require different framing and access conditions. A banking label does not establish one universal layout, resolution or retention period, and sensitive information should not be collected unnecessarily.
Turn the answer into a working record using Area, Purpose, Required detail, Sensitive boundary.
| Decision area | Buyer question | Required output |
|---|---|---|
| Define Each Banking Video Task | What should bank camera coverage requirements describe? | Define the authorized operational purpose for teller areas, controlled entrances and ATM context. |
| Select Detail Without Overexposure | Does a teller camera need the highest available resolution? | It needs sufficient recorded detail for the defined task under actual framing, lighting and movement. |
| Specify Segmentation and Authorized Retrieval | Are two VLANs enough to secure bank CCTV? | No. |

Section 02
Select Detail Without Overexposure
It needs sufficient recorded detail for the defined task under actual framing, lighting and movement. Higher pixel count alone does not establish usable evidence. Avoid unnecessary capture of confidential screens, credentials or customer information when designing the view.
Use Target, Distance, Lens, Exposure, Excluded detail to compare options on the same basis. Keep product capability, project assumption and operating responsibility in separate columns.
Section 03
Specify Segmentation and Authorized Retrieval
No. Segmentation must be combined with appropriate routing rules, accounts and platform permissions. Define live view, playback, export and administration separately, including remote audit access. A VLAN count does not prove that footage is restricted to authorized users.
The project output should make Role, Network path, View, Export, Administration traceable from input to acceptance.
- Confirm the answer to: Are two VLANs enough to secure bank CCTV?
- Record the project fields: Role / Network path / View / Export / Administration.
- Keep product capability, project assumptions and site responsibility in separate records.

Section 04
Calculate Retention and Supported Storage
No such universal rule follows from this scenario. Apply the branch's actual requirements and calculate storage from the chosen streams. Use a platform that supports the selected protection mode and account for usable capacity, rather than assuming any multi-bay NVR provides RAID 6.
Record Group, Mbps, Days, Required TB, Storage mode before selecting a product family. That makes later substitutions possible without silently changing the operational requirement.
Section 05
Design Continuity Across the Service Chain
Identify the critical camera, network, recording and retrieval paths for the required service. Coordinate supported redundant power and recovery with the site's responsible design team. Two UPS units or RAID alone do not eliminate every common failure point.
Review Critical service, Path, Common point, Backup, Recovery with the party that will operate or maintain the system.

Section 06
Prepare a Scope-Accurate Project Package
Provide role-specific equipment, recording and storage calculations, network and access interfaces, display requirements, power and cabling scope. Keep regulatory acceptance, site security policy and installation responsibilities explicit. Do not imply that a standard product list is a bank-certified system.
Use Requirement, Equipment role, Quantity, Interface, Responsible party as the handoff between design and procurement.
