Keep the specified Hikvision offer and proposed alternative in separate approval columns. For each deviation, record the retained task, evidence and decision owner before converting it to an order line.
Section 01
Agree which factory tasks both proposals must deliver
Keep the specified Hikvision offer and proposed alternative in separate approval columns. For each deviation, record the retained task, evidence and decision owner before converting it to an order line. Where brand or platform requirements remain mandatory, retain them. A technically discussed substitute is not yet an authorized project replacement.
Compare NexPro-Link and Hikvision factory CCTV packages against the same recorded-image tasks, retention period, operator workflow and installation boundary. An alternative can be suitable without duplicating every platform feature, provided the owner explicitly accepts the differences. The quantity surveyor should establish that common basis before comparing equipment totals or requesting substitutions.
Illustrative project scenario: A contractor already has a Hikvision-based proposal and wants an alternative for a normal factory. Use CASE01 as the planning baseline: 32 ordinary-area views covering gates, stores, permitted machine-hall transfers, common routes, dispatch and equipment-room approaches. These are hypothetical security tasks, with no machine inspection or guarding function assigned to CCTV.
Ask the owner to describe a retrieval task, such as finding a dispatch transfer by location and approximate time, then exporting footage for an authorized reviewer. Record whether remote viewing, audio, event search or an existing management platform is essential. A feature included in the original proposal should be classified as required or optional rather than silently removed from the alternative.

Section 02
Match model tiers using the view and recording mode
Obtain the exact Hikvision camera and recorder models, regional variants, firmware versions and software scope. The supplied research pointers do not establish their specifications, so this comparison cannot responsibly assign Hikvision sensor, power or decoding figures. The contractor should provide the original technical submittal and identify which fields drove its selection.
For an ordinary-area candidate, the supplied NexPro-BL2812M55-5MP-DIC-AI specification lists a 5MP family, 1/2.7-inch CMOS, 25fps at 5MP, listed main output including 2880×1620 and a 2.8–12mm motorized lens. Preserve that output field exactly. Lens adjustment can support commissioning a defined view, but it establishes neither identification distance nor equivalence to an untested competitor image.
CASE01 assumes its streams fit supported 5MP-class recording modes. NexPro-NVR4449-4K lists 320Mbps input and four SATA bays supporting up to 18TB per drive; its summary distinguishes 49×5MP from 9×4K. Moving the proposal to 32 8MP cameras therefore requires a fresh mode check. Available channels alone do not approve that change, simultaneous decoding or RAID.
Section 03
Assign every retained and supplied dependency
Create a model/scope delta schedule that follows each required task into equipment and local work. The engineer identifies technical differences; the quantity surveyor identifies excluded costs; the project manager obtains acceptance from the party responsible for each interface. This makes a substitution reviewable without treating every difference as either harmless or disqualifying.
For the illustrative factory, retain the approved network only after its ports, bandwidth and power boundary are checked. Require a separate response for any existing Hikvision platform connection. ONVIF profile applicability concerns exact devices, clients and firmware; successful live video does not establish event search, audio or the required export workflow.
NexPro-Link's BOQ and Tender Support scope can help organize model matching, submittals and deviations. Local mounting, cable installation, electrical work and commissioning should remain explicit in the contractor's package. A coordinated equipment quotation does not automatically transfer these site responsibilities to the supplier.
| Item | Required task | Scope status | Responsible party |
|---|---|---|---|
| 32 camera views | Record approved transfer and access scenes | Supplied alternative, subject to view approval | Equipment supplier and design engineer |
| Recorder and disks | Continuous recording and agreed retrieval | Supplied, with compatible disks identified | Equipment supplier |
| Existing platform interface | Retain any mandatory Hikvision workflow | Retained or separately qualified | Platform integrator |
| Cabling and electrical installation | Connect and power the accepted equipment | Installer-provided | Local contractor |
| Display wall | Additional simultaneous viewing | Optional unless operationally required | Owner and display integrator |

Section 04
Normalize both quotations before calculating a difference
The following example uses fictional currency units and assigns neither option to a brand. Its formula is normalized_total = goods + installation + required_omitted_items. Option A is 10,000 + 3,000 + 2,000 = 15,000 units. Option B is 11,500 + 2,500 + 0 = 14,000 units. The difference, A_total minus B_total, is 1,000 units.
The decisive input is the required scope omitted from A. Before adding that 2,000-unit allowance, A appears cheaper at 13,000 units against B's 14,000. Completing its scope reverses the ordering. The higher goods price in B therefore cannot be judged independently of installation and included dependencies.
Apply the method only after technical qualification. Replace these inputs with same-date, same-quantity, same-currency quotations covering the same delivery boundary. Obtain a price for an unresolved omission rather than entering zero. Keep optional displays, nonessential analytics and separately approved enhancements outside the mandatory total so their value remains visible.
| Cost component | Option A | Option B |
|---|---|---|
| Quoted goods | 10,000 units | 11,500 units |
| Installation | 3,000 units | 2,500 units |
| Required omitted scope | 2,000 units | 0 units |
| Normalized total | 15,000 units | 14,000 units |
Section 05
Recommend the alternative only within its accepted boundary
For CASE01's ordinary security tasks, pursue a NexPro-Link alternative that preserves usable recording, retrieval and necessary protected power. The illustrative 32 cameras at 4Mbps each produce 128Mbps input. Continuous recording for 30 days requires 41.472TB of video; four 16TB disks provide a planning recording budget of 64 × 0.95 × 0.80 = 48.64TB. That budget already includes the stated formatting allowance and reserve.
Those figures establish a provisional sizing basis, not matched image quality or actual retention under every scene. Require measured stream behavior and compatible disks before final approval. Keep the original Hikvision requirement where an essential platform workflow, specified brand condition or specialist environment prevents a qualified substitution.
The owner should receive a short recommendation listing preserved outcomes, accepted deviations and unresolved tests. The cost team should receive the associated additions and deductions. If the operator needs only a retrieval screen, retain that scope; a video wall should enter the comparison only when a defined simultaneous-viewing task justifies it.
Section 06
Release a traceable alternative schedule for procurement
Issue the alternative with the original requirement reference beside each proposed model. Include firmware identity, disk selection, configuration scope and the acceptance task used to qualify it. Keep unconfirmed integration items open until the relevant integrator provides a result; a blank compatibility field should never become an implied approval.
For project preparation, align camera tags, cartons and technical documents with the accepted schedule. NexPro-Link can discuss related equipment coordination and project or OEM packaging within its supply scope. Any branding option should preserve model identification and support traceability.
Before ordering, agree who checks the installed views, verifies recording continuity and demonstrates export. Obtain separate written support terms for equipment supply and local service. Procurement can then compare a documented alternative with the original package without converting supplier coordination into an unstated installation or platform guarantee.

Section 07
Buyer questions
Can we request an alternative before all Hikvision model details are available? Yes, as a provisional scope exercise. Keep the original model and firmware fields unresolved, and avoid approving equivalence until the required specifications and workflows are available.
Should unused platform features receive a deduction? Only after the owner confirms they are unnecessary and the supplier identifies a genuine scope reduction. Their absence is not automatically a saving, particularly when licensing or installation remains unchanged.
What happens if the brand is mandatory in the tender? Keep the mandatory equipment in the compliant bid. Present any permitted alternative separately, with deviations and an approval route, rather than pricing an unapproved substitution as the baseline.
