Record both active ends
Every optical link has a device/interface at each end and a route between them. Count modules from the link schedule so patch panels do not accidentally double the total.
- Module SKU, speed, wavelength pair, SMF/MMF, connector and polish.
- Route loss including fiber, connectors, splices, splitters/passive assemblies and margin.
- For PON: OLT board/optic class, splitter ratio, ONU model and supported software.
Separate base, required and optional items
A bare chassis may exclude supplies or fans. An optional feature becomes required when the proposed design depends on it.
- MPUs/line cards, PSU/fan quantities, airflow, cords and mounting.
- Port upgrade licenses, AP capacity, controller/cloud operation and security subscriptions.
- Support term, region/country-code restrictions and firmware compatibility.
Close the quotation loop
Ask the supplier to state what each price line includes. Quantity and configuration changes should update the drawing and BOM together.
- Use the same device ID in topology, port schedule and BOM.
- Keep unresolved SKUs labeled pending confirmation instead of substituting generic parts.
- Agree availability, delivery, warranty and replacement support in the actual offer.
